Saturday and Sunday
The weekends are your free time, however there will be something happening. Play, sports in the park, explore the city, travel around the UK (by train Manchester is 1hr 30mins, the coast is 1hr 20mins and London is 2.5hrs)
or you can take advantage of one of our excellent organised trips.
Volunteering
We think that Voluntary work is an important way to learn more about life in the UK, and to practise your English while doing something really useful. During your stay with us you could, for example:
Work with the elderly at cafés and bingo afternoons on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Work in local shops to raise money for charities
Work with the homeless and those in need by providing food and conversation on Thursday nights with a
Christian organisation
Help at our local conservation centre with their gardening every Friday afternoon
Write articles for a local magazine or a national blog – Kirkstall Matters
Raise funds for charities such as the Red Cross or Oxfam, and help at their events.
Social Activities
There are also lots of things to do with other students and teachers in the evenings. We live very close to an entertainment centre with bowling, cinema, restaurants and pubs.
Leeds has two large Universities and there is a wide variety of bars and nightclubs for the evenings
Cooking
We believe that cooking and shopping for food is an important part of English culture and a great opportunity to practise using your English in a practical environment.
At the beginning of each week every student and teacher living at the house puts £25 into a shared 'pot'. From this we cook and shop together – but don't worry if you haven't cooked before, you will be working as part of a team and it's a good chance to learn some new skills!
Accommodation
Each student has their own double room in one of our houses, including a desk to work on.
Our houses are all walking distance from each other and all have free unlimited wifi access included.
We have a maximum of 4 students per class, and we only teach the things that you would like to learn. Our teachers have a lot of experience in preparing students for Cambridge, TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS exams. We can offer business/medical/legal English courses, general English. Extra 1-1 classes are also available in the afternoons.
Living with a qualified English teacher, you will be able to practise your English from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep. You will also be living with other students who are studying English.
At the weekend you are free to explore different cities, look for a job, or just stay in the house and relax in Leeds.
